Dr K J Srinivasa
Consul General of India in Los Angeles
Ambassador Dr K J Srinivasa is an Indian career diplomat with twenty three years of experience, presently is the inaugural Consulate General of the Consulate of India, Los Angeles. He previously served as Chief Passport Officer of India. He has served in various capacities at the Indian Embassies / Consulates in Madrid, Lima, San Francisco, Johannesburg and Georgetown Guyana, and at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
His previous assignments include Head of Consular Affairs, Administration, Commerce and Political Wings in Embassy of India, Madrid, Spain (2004-2007); Embassy of India, Lima, Peru (2007-2010) and Deputy Consul General in San Francisco, USA (2013-2016). He served as the Consul General of India in Johannesburg, South Africa (2016-2019) and the High Commissioner of India in Guyana accredited to CARICOM, Antigua & Barbuda, St Kitts & Nevis and Anguilla (2019-2023).
Ambassador Dr. Srinivasa was the Regional Passport Officer in Bangalore from 2010-13 and was involved in the introduction of the path-breaking Passport Seva Project System which revolutionized passport delivery services to Indian citizens. He served as Joint Secretary (CPV) in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2023-2024. As Chief Passport Officer, he was instrumental in the introduction & roll out of Indian e-Passports.
His experience lies in Political, Economic and Consular Affairs, International Relations, Strategic Outreach and Crisis Operations Management.
As a diplomat, he has trained at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, the Foreign Service Institute New Delhi, the Fletcher School at Tufts University and the Indian Institutes of Management in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. Prior to a career in Diplomacy, Ambassador Dr Srinivasa was a medical doctor graduating from Government Medical College, Mysore.
He is married to Mrs Ashwini and is blessed with two sons.
